Individual psychotherapy can help

Healthy relationships are your birthright! We need relationships and connection to thrive and survive. However, navigating the complexities of relationships can be complicated. Nobody teaches us how to be in a relationship, and most of the time, we make it up as we go, learning from our mistakes.

It may seem like we attract the same partners or repeat the same patterns. We may feel disconnected or unavailable in ourselves or experience the same in our partners and loved ones. After a break up we may spend a lot of time and energy puzzling over what happened and how to avoid repeating the same pattern next time. We might enter new relationships with one foot already out, afraid to dive in too deep for fear of going through the same cycle again. We fear losing ourselves or we feel trapped and suffocated like there is no way out or no-one to talk to, particularly when our partner or loved one is abusive or manipulative.

There are often reasons for why this happens. Much of what happens in our relationships is because of our nervous system and our upbringing, that is our wiring and conditioning. Unpacking these patterns is the first step in making lasting, personal change.

Sometimes it helps to have someone to talk to who is independent and will listen. It’s valuable also to learn potent self-regulation and relating tools that you can take away and use in your life and relationships.

I can help you transform and heal, and understand the deeper patterns that play out in your relating. I can support you to create physical and emotional safety, and develop personal resources from which you can build deep, loving trust and connection. Good relating is a skill that requires developing insight, emotional intelligence and attention. When all these qualities are present, the depth of connection is boundless.

Relationship psychotherapy is not just for couples. You might be an individual in a relationship, or you might be single and would like to work on your relating and how you connect.

What makes me the right therapist for you?

Unlike many therapists, I do not dish out a diagnoses and cookie-cutter advice on how to fix your life and relationships. Insight and healing are not found by following worksheets. Instead, they are found within, through accessing your internal resources and wisdom.

I tailor my approach to meet you and your needs. Your sessions are all about you. I genuinely listen to you and what you bring to your sessions. We work from the ground up and the inside out, helping you understand how your wiring and conditioning influence your life, and providing resources to help create change.

Together, we work with your neurobiology, your nervous system and attachment style, which influences how you relate to others.

We also work with your individual emotional and communication styles and unpack the stories and patterns that shape your relationships. Relationships and connection are complex and dynamic and I treat them as such. My approach is holistic and works to connect heart, body and mind.

People tell me that they find my approach to be collaborative, curious and non-judgmental.
